A solenoid valve in pneumatic system receives an electrical signal and switches compressed air to or from the actuator. Different electrical configurations, such as a solenoid valve 24v option, should be confirmed according to the control system requirements and actuator specifications. The required function depends on whether the actuator is single-acting or double-acting and whether the system requires normally open, normally closed or bistable operation. A complete solenoid valve control system may also include air preparation, the solenoid valve, actuator and position feedback. Where confirmation is required, a solenoid valve with feedback solution can be evaluated.
Side-plate mounting connects the solenoid valve directly to a compatible actuator or control assembly, while a pipe-connected version uses pneumatic tubing and fittings. Selection depends on actuator design, installation space and maintenance access.
Use clean, dry compressed air within the specified pressure range. Moisture, oil or particles can reduce solenoid-valve and actuator reliability, so an appropriate filter or pressure regulator may be required.
